YOUTH DIRECTOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position title: The Youth Director (Y.D.) is a part-time, year round, hourly paid position who serves at the will of the Staff Parish Relations Committee. The successful applicant must be dependable, able to relate to youth, trustworthy, pass a police background check, and adhere to the requirements of the Child & Vulnerable Adult Physical & Sexual Abuse Prevention & Reporting Policy of the Huntingburg United Church (H. U. M. C.).

Principal function of position: Plan and implement a Christ centered program for the youth of the church that will provide guidance and encourage them in their spiritual development.
Oversight of position The Y. D. is responsible to the Staff Parish Relations Committee. Oversight and approval of program planning and implementation will be in consultation with the Pastor and the Youth Council. Program financing requirements will be done in consultation with and approval of the Finance Committee.
Principal Duties: The Y. D. will meet with church youth on a regularly scheduled and consistent basis. The Y. D. will plan, develop, organize and implement activities oriented toward the various youth age groups within the church. Programming must include Biblically oriented activities including mission work and working with or assisting in various local church activities. The activities and programs developed must engage the youth and guide them as they build their relationship with God. The Y. D. will communicate with other church committees to minimize scheduling conflicts with other church activities. Safety of the youth is a primary factor in all programming. Chaperones must be provided when appropriate.
Regular Duties: The Y. D. will meet with Conference, District or other local church personnel for training and to take advantage of youth activities they provide. From time to time, the Y. D. will provide an update of plans and activities to the congregation of the H. U. M. C. during regular Sunday services.
Occasional Duties: To attend meetings of and submit regular reports to the Administrative Board concerning activities that have transpired and to share future plans. The Y. D. will attend any Charge Conferences of the H. U. M. C. and prepare and submit an annual budget to the Finance Committee.
Specialized Knowledge, Training and Skills: The Y. D. must have a background working with youth, a minimum of a high school education, and a desire to serve God by working with youth in their spiritual development.
